Driving Excellence Through Plan-Do-Check-Act

At LCS Project Solutions Ltd, we use the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to keep improving how we deliver compliance, sustainability, and client success.  Here’s a look back at what we achieved this week.

Plan: Setting the Foundations

This week, we focused on careful planning to meet client needs and industry standards:

✅ BREEAM Roadmap: Joined a team meeting for Havant College’s new teaching block to make sure sustainability goals are built into the construction process.

✅ Heritage Planning: Supported Owlsworth Conservation with strategies that balance preserving historic features and meeting modern regulations.

✅ Fibre Integration: Planned phased fibre installations for SPB Group, aiming to keep disruption to building occupants to a minimum.

✅ O&M Innovation: Created a tailored operations and maintenance template for a complex energy and farming project, focusing on long-term efficiency.

Do: Taking Action

Our work this week included inspections, training, and system improvements:

✅ Compliance Inspections: Carried out site visits at Havant College, Andover College, Fareham College, and Peter Symonds College supporting Ascia Construction teams.

✅ Training & Mentoring: Delivered awareness sessions for New Forest Fencing staff and mentored a work experience electrical engineer trainee during the Havant College site tour.

✅ System Improvements: Enhanced our workshop platform to make compliance documentation and reporting easier and more efficient.

Check: Reviewing and Learning

We carefully checked progress to make sure everything meets expectations:

✅ Demolition Compliance: Confirmed Section 80 demolition regulations were followed at Bury Cross Garage, including communication with neighbours and contractors.

✅ Protecting Learning Environments: Monitored compliance controls during the Fareham College upgrade project to avoid disrupting students.

✅ O&M Template Testing: Gathered feedback from stakeholders to ensure the operations and maintenance template works well for the energy and farming project.

Act: Making Improvements

We’re already putting lessons from this week into practice:

✅ Sustainability Feedback: Reviewed as-built elements at Havant College with the BREEAM team to identify any improvements.

✅ Mentorship Growth: Committed to expanding our mentorship programs after positive feedback from the work experience site tour.

Balancing Work & Wellbeing

The week started with some well-earned rest and reflection – an e-bike ride along Cornwall’s Camel Trail reminded us that sustainable practices apply to both our projects and our interactions with the natural environment.

Why PDCA Matters in Our Work

  1. Reduces Risk by carefully identifying and managing hazards.
  2. Saves Time by testing and improving processes step-by-step.
  3. Builds Trust by showing clients and partners that we’re continuously improving.
