Reflections – Week 46

Quality Management, Reflections, Training & Mentoring, Weekly Round Up

The weather this week curtailed some of our site visits, but not all!  As always, we adapted and changed course, making the most of the opportunity to progress with other, dryer tasks.

Monday

We hosted our BSA Duty Holders Awareness Course in partnership with MS Associates.  It was a resounding success, receiving excellent real-time and post-course feedback.  This valuable input allows us to refine the course to meet the evolving needs of our dutyholders.

“The course was very well done with lots of engagement. I think we could have easily filled another two hours of discussion. Lee was very knowledgeable and helped guide us to a consensus on many discussion points.”

We also made good on our commitment to continue developing a companywide health and safety management system, while commencing a site-specific system for a new client.

Tuesday

Work continued from Monday, focusing on management system development and site-specific planning—conveniently while staying dry!  We also reflected on the BSA course feedback, using it to identify areas for enhancement.  Additionally, we were invited to deliver a Health and Safety CPD update for Quantity Surveyors through CPD Essentials, Plan, Do, Check, Act in full swing!

Wednesday

We supported a Local Authority team with CDM Tracker updates and assisted with project health and safety planning for upcoming works on a Tier 1 contractor’s site.  Tier 1 contractors continue to raise the bar, setting high standards across the industry, an encouraging sign of the sector’s steady progress. All this, and we still managed to dodge most of the showers.

Thursday

A productive client day both on-site and back at their HQ, focusing on team guidance and development. The day included three separate site tours and multiple drop-in discussions with operations teams, great engagement all round.  Back at base, we progressed further system developments, preparing a draft issue for client review and comment to ensure robustness and readiness for implementation.

Friday

Fleet expansion was the highlight of the day, from electric bikes to an EV!  We also managed a local site compliance inspection, though it’s doubtful Leon managed to avoid the rain this time!  We also made the time to plan an ISO 9001 maintenance audit for client and issue for their commencement of evidence gathering.

Plan–Do–Check–Act Summary

Plan: Identifying opportunities to strengthen our management systems and preparing tailored safety frameworks for clients.

Do: Delivering training, CPD sessions, and on-site consultancy engagements to build knowledge and operational consistency.

Check: Reflecting on real-time and post-course feedback to identify improvements in content, process, and approach.

Act: Implementing refinements, issuing draft systems for review, and preparing the next phase of continuous improvement to maintain compliant, safe, and effective project delivery.

A week of adaptation, engagement, and forward motion, proof that even the rain can’t slow down progress when Plan–Do–Check–Act becomes second nature.
