Reflections – Week 47

Health & Safety, Management Systems, Weekly Round Up

A Week of Progress, Partnerships and Purpose

This week, our journey through diverse projects, people, and places reflected what LCS Project Solutions is all about, practical support, collaborative relationships, and ongoing improvement in every aspect of safety, quality, and sustainability.

Monday – A Sustainable Start

Our first sustainable outing in the new Tesla took us to New Forest Fencing & Gates. It might have borrowed a few electrons while parked up, but every mile was worth it. The day was spent collaborating with their dedicated team to enhance their Health & Safety management system for both on-site and off-site activities.  Productive discussions and shared purpose set a positive tone for the week ahead.

Tuesday – On Track for Compliance

Tuesday saw us take the train to London for H&S compliance inspections.  It was also a focused day for desktop development, creating bespoke, task-specific policies and procedures, and integrating compliance forms within our Monday.com platform. This digital streamlining continues to make it easier for clients to track and evidence their compliance with confidence.

Wednesday – Conversations Across Eras

Midweek brought an inspiring mix; an initial discussion with a potential associate for an upcoming project north of London, followed by a project meeting advising as CDM Advisor to the Principal Designer on the refurbishment of a beautiful old manor house.   Not a straight line to be found, and that’s exactly how it’s meant to remain.  We also returned to London for further inspections across heritage and contemporary projects, where conversations compared how old craftsmanship and modern methods meet (and sometimes clash) on today’s construction sites.

Thursday – Charging Ahead

Thursday delivered the first proper test for the EV, with an early start and fast charge en route to Buckinghamshire and Oxford.  Two contrasting heritage projects awaited, both managed by engaged and knowledgeable teams who made the day as educational as it was fulfilling.  These sites reminded us what a privilege it is to work with such spaces and people.  After a quick top-up at a supercharger on the way back, we were ready for next week’s travels.  We also had the pleasure of guiding delegates through Day 1 of the SMSTS course, hosted by our friends and partners at MS Associates, a rewarding session filled with practical discussion and leadership focus.

Friday – Heritage Work and Future Opportunities

Friday took us back on the train to another heritage project, supporting our client in managing complex H&S challenges on a technically demanding structure.  Back at base, vital administrative work was completed, a Teams meeting held with a prospective new client (more to come on that soon), and progress continued on ISO 9001 and 14001 support for a client seeking continual improvement.

The week closed with a real sense of achievement, strengthened relationships, and energising feedback from clients and teams alike.

Highlights – Plan, Do, Check, Act

In summary, the week followed a Plan–Do–Check–Act approach with careful preparation and collaboration in planning site inspections and policy development; execution through inspections, guidance, training, systematic review by assessing client systems and monitoring progress; and actionable steps involving refining policies, nurturing new relationships, and enhancing process integration, all driving continuous improvement and partnership success.
