Reflection 26 – Week 13: Long Weekend Ahead

Health & Safety, Reflections, Weekly Round Up

Progress, Partnership & Process

A short couple of weeks for the team due the Bank Holiday Easter weekend.  Time to rest, recover and reflect.

We have had a productive short week assisting our clients and partners with their team’s compliance requirements, whilst simultaneously looking to strengthen our systems by trialling a new software to streamline processes, reduce duplication and pass the benefits to our client and partner teams.

Our week of course consisted of the customary client team engagement and conversations, from London to closer to home, many different tasks were successfully completed.

Monday
Off to Appledown Projects to chat with the team regarding the further development of their temporary works system and to carry our Clause 5 & 7 maintenance audit on certain aspects of the clauses to ensure continued development of the system by identifying possible gaps and assisting with their closure.

Back at base, we continued to provide project support clients by way of the continued development and refine of task specific safe systems of work.  We also managed to conduct a site health and safety compliance inspection for a partnering organisation.

Tuesday
An out of county team day and attendance at a clients bi-weekly progress meeting to deliver the health and safety report.  That was before lunch!  In the afternoon, we chaired a project review meeting with management team, again with the purpose of continued improvement by searching for gaps that may have a significant project impact.

Back at base we were busy carrying out essential end of month administration tasks and continuing to provide client assistance where required.

Wednesday
Another early start to ensure an efficient use of the available time, 1440 minutes in every day don’t you know!  Slightly thwarted by a 50-minute delay at security due to the numbers entering the facility.  Apparently, this is common for each first day of the month as the systems are refreshed.

Closer to base we were at a client’s premises chairing various CDM coordination reviews for several different projects.  The planned site compliance inspection for the afternoon was postponed due the lack of trains!

Thursday

Thursday was all about the team.  Thursday is our team catch up day, time to review projects, administrative support and to plan the next steps for the coming week.  We also took this opportunity to attend an onboarding session with Beth Marshall from AI Solutions, the product CDM ToolKit CSTM.  The aim to streamline processes and reduce duplication of effort for the benefit of our clients and to be more efficient with our 1440 minutes.

That was not all we achieved; we started the gap analysis of a new clients’ health and safety management system.  This will be the baseline for development of their current system, transforming it to a digital system that can be accessed on smart phone, including the facility to use forms to capture vital compliance information that demonstrates in a measurable format, the planning actions are being done.  The data collected as part of the checking process can then be analysed with the required actions being assigned.

Friday

Time to rest………….

Closing Thought

As we head into the long Easter weekend, it’s a good reminder that progress doesn’t come only from action, it also comes from the pauses that let us reflect, recharge, and return with renewed clarity.  Here’s to using our 1,440 minutes wisely next week.
