This first working week of 2026 did not start with fanfares or charging horses. Nor did we set grand New Year business resolutions, we will continue focusing on clients’ needs while building our knowledge and skills through training, new experiences, and yes, failure. This mix fuels real learning.
The week began sedately, re-establishing work’s discipline for us and our clients. That changed by Friday as Storm Goretti swept the country, causing widespread disruption. Our South England region was lightly touched; hold “discipline” in mind; we will circle back. First, the week:
Monday kicked off at New Forest Fencing & Gates Ltd with a ‘Safe Start’ briefing for the fencing crews. We reviewed 2025 achievements, challenges overcome by teams and management to drive growth, and shared objectives for the year ahead. All committed to aligning actions with stated goals, brilliant. From there, a whistle-stop visit to partnering consultants MS Associates, where we discussed a joint-venture roadmap for developing an ISO 9001 Quality Management System for a client, pooling resources, knowledge, and skills. The rest of the day built that roadmap and programmes for team rollout.
Tuesday’s cold snap and ice postponed site visits. Time wasn’t wasted, we fielded queries, issued fee proposals, advanced compliance documents for a retained client, and tackled vital catch-up tasks. One team member met a potential returning client eyeing national framework status for government projects. An insightful chat exchanged goals and intel.
Wednesday was full CDM consultancy for a client: project updates, site tour in Portsmouth, ISO 9001 progress, and client calls.
Thursday returned us to New Forest Fencing & Gates Ltd, actioning Monday’s ‘Safe Start’ insights, planning health, safety, and quality systems for upcoming projects, plus preparation for Constructionline Gold recertification in early Q2. Their energy and enthusiasm are infectious.
Friday was office-based: admin, plus deep dives into ISO 9001 development requiring thorough research for client alignment. A game of two halves, lunch catch-up furthered the discussion regarding a community initiative. Watch this space!
A solid week, connections renewed, much achieved. We’re invigorated.
