An interesting and varied week for the team! We have been busy across several projects, providing both on-site and remote advice to help ensure standards are maintained and legal duties clearly defined and met.
This week’s site compliance inspections took us to London, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, each location with its own unique demands. From fire-stopping checks in a multi-storey residential build demonstrating the Building Safety Act in action, to a heritage refurbishment, and a demolition-phase new build on the Isle of Wight, our site visits continue to showcase the diversity of our work.
Off-site, we have been developing client management systems and tackling a particularly challenging task: designing a procedure, in collaboration with a site team, for the application of a fire treatment product to timber. This included setting up a digital method for recording product application using the form functions within the Monday.com platform.
That’s not all. We have also reviewed two prospective new projects, one of which we are delighted to have secured for a new client, while the other remains in progress with the design team. In addition, we were invited to undertake a review of quality management arrangements to support a client’s ongoing ISO 9001 compliance and continuous improvement objectives.
A highlight of the week came from beyond the usual project work. Lee received a message from Sami, a recently graduated engineer from the University of Bath who was part of the Beyond Boundaries initiative, where Lee served as a mentor. Sami has now secured his first full-time role as a graduate engineer and shared that he has started a journal, featuring one of Lee’s quotes in the first entry. It is rewarding to see our mentoring relationships helping to inspire the next generation of professionals.
And finally, Lee also attended the Lighthouse Club Charity Southern Branch Sporting Lunch as a guest of Chilworth Construction Management… more to follow on that soon as this is worthy of its own post!
